Google Starts New Ad Planning Site for Media Buyers
Okay, now they've done it... Google has begun to share their VAST database of web traffic, demographics, click ratios and "everything you always wanted to know" about sites where you might buy advertising (from Google Adwords or anywhere else, one might guess). Google Ad Planner Anyway we've always known that Big G knows practically everything about what goes on inside the guts of the web. But, until now, they have kept it very, very private. Now it begins to look like there is a crack in their armor... sort of. Ever want to know these things about sites which show your ads? (1) Exactly how many people view each targeted page? (2) Where the visitors come from? (3) Where they go after seeing the page? (4) How many of them click on other ads? (5) How many visitors the site gets? (6) How it compares to similar sites? (7) How many pages are viewed per visitor, per visit? (8) ... other details about your prospective ad sites? Until now, that info was previously available only to the site owners themselves, usually. While the information they are offering is frighteningly detailed and revealing, Google is offering the program only to a special group of internet ad buyers. The access to the new program information is aimed at media buyers, purchasing agents, ad men, advertising agencies, and big buyers of Adword type pay-per-click ads or banners. If you've not received an invitation from Google, you may apply to them to join the program by filling out their online request to join Google Ad Planner. Quantcast.com -- Another Ad Buyer Resource Incidentally, there is one more place you might get pretty good FREE info about some sites that accept your ads -- Quantcast.com. If the advertising-accepting site is tracked by Quantcast, then you can see an amazing amount of detail about the income, sex, locations, habits and many other characteristics of each visitor profile. Terrific aid in making ad buying decisions. For Example -- Take a look at one of our health related sites -- Level1diet.com and you will see what they provide about visitor demographic, traffic, etc. Quantcast and Google Ad Planner are also great ways to 'spy' on your competition... hint-hint. Good luck, and happy ad buying or spying! |
